Effect of Doomscrolling on Mental Health: A Homoeopathic Review

ABSTRACT
Doomscrolling is the habit of compulsive scrolling through negative news, on social media platform or internet continuously. This leads to overstimulation of brain and secretion of Dopamine- reward/motivation neurotransmitter which ultimately ends up in desire to scroll more and more resulting in anxiousness and depression.
Worldwide approximately, 15% of the population suffers from the mental and behavioral health disorders, anxiety and depressive disorders are the most common problems ruining the large number of lives. According to the research paper by Dr. (Ms.) Subhashree Panda, on impact of doomscrolling on wellbeing, consumption of negative news frequently, leads to anxiety, stress, depression, PTSD. It also decreases the level of wellbeing. So, keeping this in mind, this article aims to bring awareness about doomscrolling in society, along with the need of early realization of suffering individuals and scope of Homoeopathy in managing the cases.
This article explains the Doomscrolling behavior, biological facts behind it, its bad effects on physical and mental health, its measuring scale, along with the proposed homoeopathic aspect and therapeutics.
